A client who slides forward out of their chair through the day is a daily problem for carers, and a lap belt is not always an acceptable answer. The one way slide is a fabric tube that lets the client move easily in one direction, usually back into the chair, while resisting movement the other way.
It works because a low friction lining is combined with strips of one way material. The client goes back with little effort from the carer, then stays where they are put. Because it holds position on its own, it often removes the need for a belt, which matters where a belt would be recorded as a restraint.
The non slip outer surface keeps the tube where it is placed on a chair or a mattress, and it machine washes for reuse. Sizes run from a small seat pad up to bed width, so choose the one that matches the seat or mattress and the area the client slides across.
