Sliding a person up the bed or turning them by hand drags their skin against the sheet, which is uncomfortable for them and hard on the carer’s back. A slide sheet puts a low friction layer between the person and the bed so they can be moved with a push.
Used as a pair or as a tube, it lets one or two carers reposition someone for pressure care, personal care or a sheet change with far less effort. It is a small piece of equipment that changes how a shift feels for the people doing the repositioning six or eight times a day.
Slide sheets are consumable, so they wear and need replacing on a cycle.
