About this product

The Theorem Mercer is a quad motor lift chair, which means the back and legrest move independently and the headrest and lumbar support have motors of their own. For a client who sits for hours, that is the difference between two or three set positions and being able to make small adjustments all day without calling for help.

It lifts to a near standing position and reclines all the way to flat. A footrest extension is built in for longer legs, and the hand control has a USB port so a phone charges from the arm of the chair rather than across the room. Both sizes come in Badlands Saddle or Badlands Eclipse comfort touch fabric with a grained leather look.

The two sizes matter as much as the motors. Standard suits an average to larger adult, and Petite is scaled through the seat for a shorter client whose feet do not reach the floor in a standard chair. It works well for someone who struggles to rise from a lounge chair, sits for long periods or sleeps in the chair, and who wants head and lumbar support set separately from leg position, for example with heart failure, COPD or chronic back pain. It is a lift recliner, so pressure care and a tilt-in-space seat are outside what it does.

Good to know

  • Measure the client’s seat height and depth in a chair before choosing Petite or Standard
  • Allow clearance behind the chair for the lie-flat recline
  • Mains powered; a battery backup can be added for lowering in a power failure
  • DVA approved according to Theorem
