Children with significant trunk involvement often need more than a chest strap to hold a working sitting position. The six point vest adds lower anchor points to the standard chest fixings, giving control over both the direction the trunk falls and the tendency to slide forwards in the seat.
Because the load is shared across six points, no single strap has to be tight to be effective, which is better tolerated by a child who is sensitive to pressure or who has a gastrostomy to work around. Once it is set, the vest keeps the child in the posture the therapist prescribed, at home, at school and in respite.
