When muscle strength is very restricted, the problem at mealtimes is often the weight of the cutlery itself and how far the hand has to be lifted to bring food to the mouth. The Etac Light range with thin handles is built for exactly that client.
The handles are long and slim, so a person with very little grip strength can hold the piece between the fingers and still control it, and the extra handle length reduces how much the hand and forearm need to rise off the table. Each piece is light, which lets someone finish a meal without fatigue taking over halfway through.
The range covers a fork, a spoon, a dessert spoon and a knife, so a client can be set up with a full place setting or just the one or two pieces that give them trouble. Utensil heads are stainless steel and the handles are ABS plastic, so they go through the dishwasher with the rest of the household’s dishes and do not need separate handling.
