For a client at high pressure injury risk who is spending most of the day and night in bed, the support surface has to keep working without anyone tending it. The Zephair Lite Gentle is an alternating air system built for that situation: it cycles air through the cells to shift loading off the tissue at the bony points, continuously and quietly, so the skin is not sitting under one pressure for hours at a time.
It is intended for critical care level need, which in the community usually means a client with an existing wound, a history of breakdown or very limited ability to reposition themselves. Control sits at the pump, so a carer can set it and leave it running through the day.
The system comes in the full range of bed sizes, including long and split configurations, so it can be fitted to a domestic bed as well as a hospital bed without asking the household to change beds.
