This is the bracket set that lets a Yomper power assist unit dock under a Motion Composites Helio or Veloce folding wheelchair. It is not the drive unit: it is the part that stays on the chair so the Yomper has somewhere to attach.
The point of it is that nobody has to lift anything. The Yomper rolls up to the chair on its own small front wheels, pushes onto the mounting bar and locks with a snap and turn, then comes off the same way. The bracket is light and its support retracts, so the chair still folds normally with the kit fitted and can go in a car as it always did.
It suits a client who already has, or is being scripted for, a Helio or Veloce and a Yomper: a self-propeller with shoulder pain, fatigue from MS, or a hilly commute home, who wants to keep a light folding chair and add power only when they need it. The bracket positions the drive wheel centrally under the chair, within the chair’s own axis, so steering behaves the way the user expects. One kit is needed per chair, so a client moving the Yomper between two wheelchairs needs a kit on each. A rigid frame chair such as the Melrose Hornet takes the rigid frame bracket instead.
