Water escaping a shower recess is a falls risk before it is a housekeeping problem, and in an accessible bathroom the curtain is usually the only thing holding it back. A weighted shower curtain has extra mass sewn into the hem so it hangs straight and stays against the wall when someone moves or a carer reaches through.
That matters most where a shower chair or mobile commode is wheeled into the recess, because the curtain has to clear the equipment on the way in and then fall back into place. Keeping the floor outside dry protects the client, the carer and the flooring.
It is a low cost change that often removes the need for a bigger bathroom modification.
