For a manual wheelchair user who is managing day to day but running out of shoulders by mid afternoon, the TODO Drive adds power to the chair they already have. It clamps under the frame and drives the chair from the rear, so the client keeps their own seating, their own cushion and their own setup.
Who it suits
It suits active users who want to protect their shoulders on hills, long distances and carpet, and who travel: the battery detaches and is sized to go on a plane. It fits rigid and folding frames and comes off quickly, so the chair goes back to being a manual chair for a car boot, a transfer or a tight hallway. Control is through a smartphone app over Bluetooth.
The whole kit is light enough for a partner or a carer to lift on and off, which is often what decides whether a power add-on gets used or left at home. Installation needs one hex key.
