The same rear attaching SmartDrive power assist, supplied with switch control using a mono jack connection. The mono jack version is the one to order when your client already has a switch they use well, or when their mounting hardware is built around a standard jack.
The point of the system is shoulder preservation. The drive does the work on gradients and long distances, and the client still propels normally when they want to, so upper limb load drops without taking away their independence or their own wheelchair.
Switch operation offers momentary and latched modes, so the client can hold to drive or set it running and steer. Setting the switch in the right place for a client’s reliable movement is worth doing properly at the fitting, and it is where a therapist’s input counts.
