An arm trough gives a client a supported place to rest a flaccid or weak arm while they are seated. The raised sides keep the forearm from sliding off, the elbow stop holds the arm back in the trough, and the open hand end leaves the hand free.
Supporting the arm properly takes the drag off the shoulder, which is worth doing for anyone at risk of subluxation after a stroke. It also keeps the arm off the wheel and out of the way during transfers.
The range covers slide on, tube mount and reversible models with different mounting brackets, and the reversible version can be set up for either side. Choosing the base length is a matter of how much of the forearm needs supporting, so an assessment measurement is worth taking before you order.
