Many bariatric clients carry tissue mass behind the pelvis, and a single-piece back simply gets pushed forward by it, leaving the trunk unsupported and the client reclining away from the chair. The Spex XLella2 solves that with a two-section shell: the lower section adjusts independently of the upper, so the back can be shaped around what is actually there.
The lower section swings both posteriorly, to open the back out and clear tissue, and anteriorly, to bring the surface forward into lumbar contact. The upper section is then set separately for trunk support. This variant has the five-inch articulating lower section.
The outer cover is dual-layer with air-mesh side panels and a moisture-wicking face, which is aimed squarely at heat and moisture over a large contact area. Hardware comes two ways: fixed mount is lighter and can be flipped to gain seat depth, while quick release suits folding wheelchairs and transport. It is transport certified.
