A moulded plastic shell is fine for a short routine and hard work on skin over a longer one. This is the padded PU upholstery for the R82 Heron, available as a seat pad and a back pad, each fitting over the Heron’s own shell to give a softer surface that still wipes clean.
The foam is closed cell, so it does not soak up water in the shower and dries between uses. These are the same parts that ship on a new Heron ordered with upholstery, which makes them the correct replacement when the original pads wear or are damaged, and the right addition if the chair came through without them.
They are worth specifying for any Heron user who spends more than a few minutes on the chair, particularly a teenager or young adult with low body weight, reduced sensation or bony prominences at risk of marking on a hard shell. If the client needs lateral support rather than padding, the Heron shoulder supports are a separate accessory with their own upholstery.
