Some clients cannot hold their pelvis in position in a wheelchair, and everything above it suffers for it: the trunk collapses, one hand is always grabbing for support, and function drops away. Pelvi-Loc is a pelvic retraction hip belt built to hold the pelvis and thighs against the seat so the body has a stable base to work from.
The pads are three dimensionally shaped to sit around the pelvis, which lets the belt be firm where it needs to be without digging in over a full day of wear. That firmness is what makes it useful for clients with extensor patterns and high tone, where the belt has to hold its position all day.
A toothed ratchet tension system takes up the slack in small increments and can be worked with one hand, so a client who can manage their own belt keeps that independence, and a carer can match yesterday’s tension using the numbering printed on the straps. It mounts to most seating: manual and power wheelchairs, indoor chairs and paediatric strollers.
