The Oxford Up is a non powered stand aid for a client who can bear some weight and pull themselves up, but cannot stand and step safely on their own.
Feet go on the enclosed footplate, shins against the knee pad, and the client pulls up on the handles while the carer steadies them. Contoured seat pads then swing in underneath for a seated transfer between bed, chair, wheelchair and commode. There is no motor, battery or spreader bar, so it is lighter and simpler than a powered stand aid and there is nothing to run flat.
Who it suits
Clients in rehabilitation or aged care who are working on active standing, have grip strength and some leg strength, and can follow instructions through a transfer. It sits between a walking frame and a powered sit to stand hoist and gives the client a part to play rather than being moved passively. It is not suited to a client who cannot weight bear at all.
The legs open to clear chairs, beds and wheelchairs and close again for doorways, and the unit splits into base, mast and seat support tubes for the car. A padded polyester sling on the Securi3 clip system is available if the client needs one.
