About this product

Toileting is where a lot of general purpose slings fall down. The fabric sits under the client exactly where clothing needs to move, and the carer ends up improvising. The Oxford Access Padded is cut open below the waist so clothing can be handled while the client is still in the sling and still supported.

Padding through the back and leg sections keeps that open design comfortable rather than cutting in, and a non-slip section across the back stops the sling riding up as the lift takes the client’s weight. It attaches with loops, so it works on Oxford spreader bars and most other loop style bars, and the colour coding makes the loop choice repeatable between carers.

It is polyester, machine washable and quick to fit around a client who is already sitting, which is usually how a toileting transfer starts. Oxford publishes a measuring guide so the size can be matched before ordering rather than after.

The client it suits has reliable head and trunk control, can keep their arms outside the sling and stays upright through the lift. This is not a full support sling. A client with poor head control, low tone or a habit of sliding needs the version with head support, or a full back universal sling for general transfers.

Good to know

  • Size by the Oxford Access Padded measuring guide; ask us for a copy or bring the client to the showroom for fitting
  • Check the sling loop colours against the hoist spreader bar and the client weight against the hoist SWL
  • Inspect the sling every six months as required by ISO 10535
  • Machine washable; do not use bleach or tumble dry on high heat
