The Vicair Mattress 415 is a non powered pressure redistribution mattress built from air filled SmartCells held in separate compartments. The cells move as the person moves, so the body immerses into the surface and pressure is spread away from the sacrum, heels and trochanters.
It is used for skin protection and as part of a treatment plan for an existing pressure injury up to category IV. Because nothing is pumped or cycled, it is a sound option where alternating pressure is contraindicated, for example with osteoporosis or bone tumours, and for a person whose unrest or paratonia is made worse by a moving surface.
The low friction cover works with the middle layer to cut shear during repositioning and bed profiling, and it is fluid proof and breathable. There is no motor, so it is silent, it does not need power at the bedside, and it works on any bed frame and in profiled positions. CPR can be carried out on it without a board.
