Falls from bed are the problem this bed is designed around. The Malsch Impulse 400 takes the platform down to floor level, where a crash mat and a low bed replace rails for many clients, then lifts it back up for personal care and transfers.
The four-section mattress platform profiles the backrest and knee break electrically, with a manual foot section that sets in ten positions. Auto contour brings mattress regression into the backrest movement to cut shear. Trendelenburg and reverse tilt sit on the handset. The platform itself is metal mesh and lifts straight out for cleaning, which residential care teams appreciate.
The Bardolino Oak surround, with a choice of two bed end heights, is what makes it pass as furniture in the room. There is also a frame-only option where the client wants to keep their own bed ends. It suits clients with a falls history, dementia or nocturnal restlessness, and the king single helps a larger client or one who moves a lot in bed. Check under-bed clearance if a mobile hoist is in the plan, and look at a heavy duty bed for a bariatric client.
