A mattress in a care setting needs a cover that protects it from fluid without making the surface unpleasant to lie on. A quilted cover does both jobs: the quilted face gives a softer feel and moves moisture away from the skin, while the backing keeps fluid out of the foam underneath.
Covers like this are what keeps a mattress in service. Replacing a cover when it is worn or damaged is far less disruptive for a resident than replacing the mattress under them.
They suit aged care rooms, respite beds and home setups where continence is an ongoing factor.
