The Premier Active 2 is a hybrid support surface for clients at very high risk of pressure injury, supplied here with the control unit. The mattress works as a reactive foam surface on its own, and the pump turns it into an alternating system when the clinical picture calls for it, so therapy can be stepped up or down without moving the client onto a different bed.
Air cells sit beneath a foam insert inside a single piece foam core, which reduces the risk of a sharps puncture and keeps side wall support for transfers. If the power fails, the client is still resting on a high risk pressure reducing foam surface until it comes back on.
For staff it means less handling: the mattress does not need turning and it can stay on the bed across a range of patients, which cuts down on storage. High frequency welded seams, a full length zip flap and a toughened coated base all work against fluid getting in.
