The Manoy Contoured Plate solves a small problem that spoils a lot of meals: food pushed off the edge of a flat plate by a client eating with one hand. The oval base slopes to one end so food gathers where the spoon or fork can reach it, and the raised, curved rim gives something to load against instead of chasing peas around a plate.
It is melamine, so it is hard to chip and light enough to lift and carry, and it comes in two sizes. The small suits a child or a lighter meal, the large a full plate. It is dishwasher safe but not for the microwave, so a client who reheats meals on the plate should use a microwave-safe scoop dish instead.
Prescribe it for a client eating one-handed after a stroke or with an arm in a cast, or for a client whose coordination means food ends up on the tablecloth. Pair it with a non-slip mat if the plate itself travels on the table.
