The Hippocampe gets people onto sand, gravel, grass and into the water. It is a French made all terrain chair built around wide low pressure wheels and a frame of aluminium and stainless steel, with hydrophobic foam seating that does not hold water, so it can go into the surf and come back out again.
Who it suits
It is an attendant propelled chair, so it suits a client who has someone to push and who wants beach days, bush tracks and family holidays back on the table. Four frame sizes cover children through to adults. This configuration comes with the headrest, armrests, brakes, harness and transport bag included, so a support worker has the postural bits and the safety bits from day one.
It breaks down and folds for the boot of a car, which is what makes it work for councils, respite services and families who need it to travel.
