Arm straps hold the forearm onto the Grillo arm support, for a client whose arm slides off when attention goes to the legs. Once the arm stays put, the shoulder girdle stays in a useful position and the client gets consistent input through the upper limb for the whole session.
They are useful where there is reduced awareness of one side, where tone pulls an arm out of position, or where a client simply has not the endurance to hold placement while learning to step. A therapist can set how firmly the arm is held and can wean the straps off as placement improves.
They fit the Grillo arm supports and come in a size to match the frame, so the strap sits along the forearm and stays clear of the joints.
