The EasyBelt Hug is a waist worn transfer belt from the SystemRoMedic range, used for sit to stand, for short seated transfers between wheelchair, bed, toilet and car, and for steadying a client while they stand or walk.
What sets the Hug apart from the classic EasyBelt is the handle design. The handles slide, so as the carer takes the load the belt draws in around the client instead of pulling at one fixed point. The force spreads out and the client feels held rather than tugged. Larger sizes carry more handles, which gives a carer more choice of grip depending on the transfer.
The belt is nylon with a moisture repellent polyurethane coating, so it wipes down between clients, and a wipeable variant is made for settings with stricter infection control requirements. It is an assisted transfer aid, not a lifting sling: the client has to bear some weight. SupportStraps can be added as a leg harness where more support is needed.
