A high specification foam mattress for a client at high risk of pressure injury who does not need, or will not tolerate, a powered surface. The foam is castellated, cut into cells so each block moves independently under the body, with smaller cells at the heels and larger cells through the sacral area where the load concentrates.
Because there is no pump, there is nothing to fail overnight, nothing to plug in and no noise. For a home where power is unreliable or the client is unsettled by the movement of an air system, that is a practical advantage.
It carries a high user weight rating, so it works for bariatric clients on standard bed frames. The cover is multi stretch and vapour permeable, welded at the seams to stop fluid getting into the foam and to make decontamination straightforward.
