Who it suits
A foam mattress for a client at low to medium risk of pressure injury who needs a surface that works without power, alarms or a pump. Three layers do different jobs: a castellated top layer that gives under bony prominences, a support layer below it, and firm side formers so the edge holds when your client sits to transfer.
The castellations open air channels through the surface, which helps carry heat and moisture away from the skin. The mattress profiles with the bed, so it stays in contact when the head or knee section is raised instead of bridging and creating a pressure point.
The cover is two way stretch, vapour permeable, water resistant and antimicrobial, with welded seams and a concealed zip so fluid does not track into the foam. It is fire retardant, translucent to x-ray and suitable for CPR, which makes it workable in hospital and aged care settings.
