Heels carry a lot of pressure risk for anyone spending long periods in bed. This elevator is a contoured foam support that sits under the calf and lifts the heel clear of the mattress, so the load is spread along the lower leg and the heel itself is offloaded completely.
It can be used lying on the back or on the side. For a client who cannot move their own ankle, a carer should reposition it along the calf now and then to keep blood flow up and spread the pressure evenly. Two can be joined with the hook and loop tape on the cover when both heels need elevating.
The cover is removable and sweat resistant, and it washes at high temperature, which suits shared use and infection control.
