Showering a hoist dependent client calls for a sling that handles water. This Arjo sling is made for it. The open mesh lets water run straight through, so the client is not left sitting in a sodden sling while they are dried and dressed.
Padding through the leg sections is the other reason to choose it. Clients with little natural padding, thin skin or sensitivity under the thighs feel a sling edge quickly, and the padded sections spread the load across a wider surface. It is a four point clip sling, so it connects positively to the spreader bar and cannot slip off part way through a lift.
Used with Arjo’s DPS spreader bar, a carer can change the client’s position in the sling without handling them by hand, which matters when the same person is moved between bed, chair, wheelchair and hygiene equipment several times a day. It is a passive sling: the client is fully supported and is not expected to take any weight or help with the transfer.
