Mid Wheel Drive Powerchairs

Mid wheel drive powerchairs place the drive wheels under the user, giving the tightest turning circle of any configuration. They are the preferred choice for people who use their chair mostly indoors, in small homes, supported accommodation or offices where turning in corridors and bathrooms matters most.

Assess the person’s environment, including door widths, hallway turns and thresholds, alongside the seating and controls they need. Mid wheel drive chairs handle uneven ground well but can feel different outdoors, so trial on the surfaces the person uses. Consider suspension, seat elevation and tilt options, battery range and the safe working load.

Thrive Lifecare supplies mid wheel drive powerchairs across Tasmania with home trials, scripting, quotes for NDIS, Home Care Packages and Support at Home, DVA or private purchase, delivery, programming and servicing. Book a trial in the person’s home in Tasmania to check every turn.
