Choosing a folding wheelchair usually means accepting extra weight and a vaguer ride. The Korimako is Melrose’s answer to that. It is custom built to the client’s size and shape, which lets the adjustable position hardware come out of the frame altogether, so what is left is a folding chair that behaves much more like a fixed frame one.
That matters for a client who has to get the chair into a boot on their own but still wants an efficient push. The moving parts are well engineered and made to last the life of the frame, and the chair is available in aluminium or titanium depending on how far you want to take the weight saving.
Footplates are made to whatever angle suits, in one piece drop in or swing away flip up form. Armrests can be specified with or without skirt guards, and there is a wide choice of tyres and wheels including composite, Spinergy, Xcore and Spider.
