The TiLite CR1 is a carbon fibre chair built for users who are chasing the lightest, most responsive chair they can get. The frame uses an aerodynamic tube profile with a foam-filled core, which is how TiLite kept the strength while taking the weight out.
It has been recognised well beyond the mobility industry: Best New Product at the ATSA awards here in Australia, plus gold at the A’ Design Award and Competition and at the MUSE Design Awards. That reflects how much of the chair was redesigned rather than carried over, from castor bearings engineered for vertical load and reduced weight to carbon fibre castor wheels with titanium reinforcement trim rings.
The everyday benefit is shoulders. As one user put it, the CR1’s weight makes it much easier to transfer into a vehicle, and the light weight and high responsiveness make it more efficient to push. For a full-time user, that is the difference between managing the day and paying for it afterwards.
