Early powered mobility for toddlers with a mobility impairment. The Explorer Mini lets a very young child initiate movement themselves, at the age when self directed exploration is doing the developmental work: cause and effect, spatial awareness, language, social play and the confidence that comes from choosing where to go.
Who it suits
Children between twelve and thirty six months who cannot move independently and would otherwise wait years for their first power chair. It is a prescription only medical device and suits families and therapy teams ready to support daily practice at home and in the community.
The adjustable saddle seat holds the hips in a supported position and lets the child sit or stand to play, building strength, endurance and postural control while they drive. An integrated table and backrest give upper body support without pinning the child in place. It is light enough to move between home, childcare and clinic.
