Cutting a slice of bread or a piece of meat takes two hands, steady downward force and good judgement of thickness. The Cut cutting board is designed so a client can do it safely with one hand or with weak hands.
The board holds the food against a transverse bar, and the knife runs in guides so the cut stays straight and the blade stays away from the client’s supporting hand. Turning the bar changes how thick the slices come out, which lets a client control portion size themselves. Because the guides do the aiming, it also helps a client with low vision cut evenly and with confidence.
It goes in the dishwasher, so it fits a normal kitchen routine and stays in use. Good for clients working towards independent meal preparation after a stroke or with progressive hand weakness.
