Who it suits
The seca 515 is for clinical teams who need to know what a person’s weight is actually made of: fat mass, muscle mass and body water, broken into compartments that matter for treatment decisions. It is a station the client stands on, with electrodes built into the handrail and into the platform.
The handrail gives a firm stance during the measurement, which is a practical point as well as a clinical one: a steady posture is what makes results reproducible between visits. Measurements are taken across multiple body segments, so you can see asymmetry and track change in a single limb, not just a whole body number.
Results are entered and read on a swivelling touchscreen, and the analysis is presented in modules so you can look at the question you care about without wading through everything else. An integrated scale means weight and composition come from one step. Data moves over the network for storage and reporting.
Dietetics, renal, oncology and rehabilitation services use this kind of measurement to guide nutrition and exercise plans.
