For some clients the weight of a sheet is the problem. Peripheral neuropathy, gout, an ulcer, a burn, a fresh dressing or a cast can all make bedding unbearable, and the usual result is a client who kicks the covers off and then gets cold. The Redgum Folding Blanket Support is a bed cradle that takes the weight of the covers and holds them clear of the legs and feet.
It sits on top of the mattress under the bedding at the foot or the side of the bed, so there is nothing to bolt to the frame and nothing to assemble. Turning it end for end gives two width settings, which is enough to cover one leg or both. It is light enough to lift out with one hand when the bed is made, and it folds flat to go under the bed or into a cupboard between uses.
It also helps a client with foot drop who needs the covers off the toes overnight. Because it is free standing rather than fixed, a very restless client, or a bed with a thin mattress, may suit a bolt-on blanket support that clamps to the bed frame instead.
