Moisture trapped in a skin fold is a common starting point for maceration, fungal infection and skin breakdown, particularly under the breast, in the groin and in the abdominal pannus. These dry sheets sit in the fold and draw moisture away from the skin surface.
They are used dry, with no powder or cream, so they suit clients where an antifungal is not indicated or where powder has become a nuisance in the bed. The strip shape fits a fold without bunching, and changing it is a quick task for a carer during routine cares.
For support workers and family carers they are simple to teach: place, check, replace when damp. They are latex free.
