Most bed pads fail in the same way: the client turns, the pad rucks up, and by 2am it is under a shoulder instead of under the hips. The Staydry Boss pad has wings that tuck under the mattress on both sides, so it stays flat through a restless night and through repositioning by a carer.
Seven layers do the work, a brushed polyester top, a polyester soaker core and a polyurethane waterproof backing, and between them they hold a full night’s loss. It is quilted rather than laminated, so it is quiet and soft against skin, and it machine washes and tumble dries. Four bed sizes are made, in aqua, clay and lilac.
This is for moderate to heavy overnight urinary incontinence managed without a disposable, or alongside one: dementia, post-stroke, MS, or a client who takes pads off at night. For a client who leaks lightly and moves little, a smaller wingless pad is cheaper to wash and dry. Where there is faecal incontinence, a disposable underpad on top of the Boss pad keeps the laundry down.
Good to know
- Wash before first use
- No bleach or fabric softener
- Choose the size by the mattress width the wings need to tuck under, not by the client
- Buy at least two per bed so one is always dry while the other washes
