The Action Gel Segment Bed Pad is a pressure care overlay section for clients who need redistribution under a specific area of the body. Segments are used on their own under a bony prominence, or combined to cover a larger part of the bed.
The Akton viscoelastic polymer inside does two things that matter clinically: it lowers interface pressure and it reduces shear, which is the force that does the damage when a person slides down the bed or is repositioned. The polymer does not leak or flow if the pad is punctured, and it will not support bacterial growth.
It is impervious to fluids and wipes clean, so it holds up in situations where continence or wound exudate would ruin a foam product.
