Clinics that need both an automated reading and a listened reading from the same device will find the UM-211 covers both. It measures oscillometrically at the press of a button, and it switches to auscultatory mode when a clinician wants to take the reading with a stethoscope, including a selectable deflation speed and a quick start for that mode.
The backlit LCD is large enough to read across a bed space, and it shows room temperature while the unit sits idle. An irregular heartbeat indicator flags a rhythm that falls outside the average during a measurement, and a run of past readings stays in memory. Inflation pressure can be fixed or left automatic, which helps with clients who find a high inflation uncomfortable.
It charges at the nurse station and runs off the battery on the round, with a cuff holder and grip built in for carrying. Five cuff sizes and an optional mobile stand are available.
