Who it suits
Weighing a person who cannot stand is a recurring problem in aged care, rehabilitation and community nursing, and the answer is usually a bad one: a guess, a hoist scale that is not free, or skipping the weight altogether. This chair scale gives you an accurate figure with the person simply sitting down.
The client is wheeled to where they are, transfers or is assisted onto the seat, and the reading comes up on a backlit display in large high contrast numbers that a clinician can read without crouching. A footrest at the front swings up on each side so feet are clear during the transfer and supported during the weigh.
The frame runs on five wheels with brakes on two of them, so it moves between rooms and then stays put while someone sits down. The moulded seat wipes clean between clients, which suits shared use on a ward.
