Where a bed exit alert is going to be needed for months rather than weeks, this is the Posey pad to standardise on. It lies flat under the bottom sheet at hip level, thin enough that the client will not feel it through the bedding, with a cord that plugs straight into a Posey alarm unit.
When the client’s weight leaves the pad the alarm sounds, so staff or a family carer get their warning while the person is still moving off the bed. That is earlier than a floor mat, which only reacts once they are already standing. For a client who also needs watching in a chair, the chair pad from the same range is the companion item.
It is a single patient item and is not cleaned and reissued, so plan for replacement rather than reprocessing.
Good to know
- Alarm unit is sold separately; check the plug matches your unit
- Replace at six months, or earlier if it stops alarming reliably
- Not for use with Cura1 monitors without confirming connector compatibility
