Shear is what undoes good pressure care for a lot of bariatric clients: tissue gets dragged sideways during transfers and repositioning, and the cushion surface is often what drags it. This build of the J2 Plus pairs the bariatric cushion with a low shear cover and a JAY Flow fluid pad.
The fluid pad sits in the pelvic loading area and conforms to the client’s shape, immersing the ischials and spreading load across a wider surface. It adjusts as the client shifts position through the day and needs no inflating, checking or topping up, so the pressure care does not depend on anyone remembering a task.
The low shear cover lets the surface move with the client during hoist transfers and repositioning, which is worth having for anyone who is hoisted or slid across during transfers. The contoured foam base underneath gives femoral loading and pelvic definition, and can be modified for asymmetry.
