The Freedom rotating seat bench is a swivel bath transfer bench for clients who cannot manage a straight slide across a plain bench. Your client sits on the seat outside the bath, the carer releases the lock and turns them a quarter turn at a time until they face along the bath, then slides the seat inside. Nobody lifts a leg over the rim or shuffles sideways.
The swivel mechanism costs some load rating, so it is rated lower than a fixed bench. That is the trade to weigh when you are choosing between the two. In return your client gets a folding padded backrest, padded armrests and a safety belt, which makes it a more supported seat for someone who needs a carer present for the whole shower.
The aluminium frame is light enough to move, and the legs step through a range of heights so the bench sits level across the rim of most domestic baths. It meets the Australian standard for this equipment.
Good to know
- Assembled and set to height on delivery
- Check the client’s weight against the 130 kg rating; the Freedom heavy duty bench is rated to 200 kg
- Backrest folds down to clear a shower screen
