Seat wedges do the quiet work in an x:panda seat. They create a gentle contour under the pelvis that accommodates the ischial tuberosities and increases the contact area between the child and the cushion, so the pelvis has somewhere to sit and does not rock backwards as the child searches for stability.
Get the pelvis close to midline and held there, and the rest of the set up follows: the spine sits in more neutral alignment, the trunk supports do less work, and the child has a better chance of using their arms and hands for something other than propping themselves up. The wedge also forms the seat pocket that a four point hip belt works against.
Wedges come as a set matched to seat size, so prescribing the right one is part of the seating assessment, not an afterthought.
