When a client is spending long stretches in a care chair and static foam is not offloading enough, the Accora CushionAir gives you a dynamic option without moving them out of the chair. It is an alternating air cushion kit that drops straight into a Configura in place of the standard foam cushion, with no tools and no installation.
Air cells inflate and deflate in turn, so the skin is loaded and unloaded in cycles rather than relying on immersion alone. The comfort dial on the pump runs from soft through to firm, so you can set it for the client and the carer can leave it alone. Mains and battery pump versions are made: the battery version is the one to ask about when the chair gets moved around a facility during the day.
It is aimed at clients with an existing pressure injury on the sacrum or ischial tuberosities, or at very high risk from immobility, who already have or are being prescribed a Configura. The point of it is keeping them seated and out of bed during the day without giving up dynamic pressure care. For low or moderate risk, the standard Configura cushion is usually enough.
