About this product

The Oscar Barwon is sized to the client rather than the other way around. It is made in Australia by Oscar Furniture and built to order in four sizes matched to the client’s height, with custom sizing where they fall outside the range. Seat width stays the same across the standard sizes, so what changes is seat depth, seat height and back height, the measurements that decide whether someone’s feet reach the floor and their thighs are supported.

The lift mechanism raises the chair to help the client stand, and the recline and tilt give a proper resting position for the middle of the day. The three-section backrest uses pressure relieving foam, and you can specify anything from a manual lever through to a five motor mechanism depending on how much control the client needs and what they can operate. A heavy duty two motor mechanism lifts the rated capacity for larger clients. The hand control has battery backup, and rear locking castors let a carer move the chair without dragging it.

It suits clients who cannot rise from a standard armchair and need powered assistance to stand, including people with arthritis, cardiac or respiratory conditions, or general deconditioning. Because it is sized to the person, it is often the answer for shorter and taller clients who need the seat matched to their own measurements.
