Slipped under the knees in supine lying, the knee wedge puts the legs into a little flexion and takes the pull off the lower back. It is a straightforward comfort and pressure care measure for clients who spend long periods in bed, and one that carers get right without much teaching.
It also suits clients whose knees need supporting in a set amount of flexion, or whose legs otherwise push into extension. Three sizes let you choose how much lift the client gets, which is worth doing properly since too much flexion is as unhelpful as none.
Frotte covers, washable covers and a granulating insert are all available, so the wedge can be tailored and kept clean in daily use.
