Forearm crutches for a client who needs to unload a leg over the long term, or who needs more stability than a stick gives but does not want the bulk of underarm crutches. The cuff around the forearm takes some of the work out of gripping, which helps anyone whose hands tire or whose grip is unreliable.
The grips are shaped rather than round. A shaped grip spreads load across the palm instead of concentrating it under the base of the thumb, which is where clients who use crutches every day tend to get sore first.
These suit clients who will be on crutches for months rather than weeks, including amputees and people with a permanent gait issue.
