The NXT Xtend is shaped for the thoracic region, with a scapula cut-out that keeps the shoulder blades free during propulsion and a lower cut-out that clears the pelvis. It is for a client who needs trunk support above the pelvis and cannot afford to lose reach or push stroke to get it.
What sets it apart is how much can be changed on the chair. Height, depth and fore and aft angle all adjust through the QuickFit system, and the lateral contour can be opened up or closed in as the client’s needs change. The upper section adjusts separately for lateral thoracic support, so trunk containment can be increased without disturbing the fit at the pelvis, which is the usual cost of tightening a one-piece back.
The surface is dual density foam infused with smartGEL visco for pressure distribution over a lightweight aluminium shell, and the four-way stretch antimicrobial cover comes off for washing. A deep contour model is offered where more containment is needed, and optional four-point fixed hardware is available for a client who is hard on the mount.
