Tidewave is a powered mattress system that turns the person slowly and continuously while they sleep. The mattress curves around the body as it moves, so the client is held securely and body weight is spread across a larger area and not left on the same few points all night.
The movement is slow and quiet enough that most people sleep through it, which is the point: pressure relief without waking someone every few hours to be repositioned by hand.
Who it suits
It suits clients at high risk of pressure injury, including people with existing wounds, and households where night turning is wearing carers out. The pump unit sets which side the person is turned to, the turn angle, the pause between sequences and the speed, and a grooming function deflates the mattress for care tasks then restarts on its own.
The mattress is specified to the bed and to the client’s weight, and firmness is chosen at the same time.
